So to help you get more stuff done at your outdoor grill, here are some methods of cooking that you can do and how to do each right.

    Classic Grilling

Grilling outdoors would never be complete without some foods that are classically cooked directly on the grill. Direct grilling is best for cooking steaks, chops, sausages, fish fillets, kabobs and chicken cuts. Not only does grilling these items make it easier for them to cook but grilling them directly would also give them a very pleasant flavor that only a grill could produce.

As for whole fish, chicken, turkey or ribs, you can use another grilling method which is known as indirect grilling. This method involves having only one side of the grill lit and placing the items on the other side of the burner that is not lit. Another way of indirect grilling would involve having an aluminum foil placed on the center to regulate the temperature, moisture and adding a different flavor to the items to be cooked. You can also place spices, lemon juice and other flavorings to enhance the flavor of items on the grill.

    Roasting On The Grill

There are two main methods of roasting that you can do on the grill. The first is pan roasting; this involves having an aluminum foil pan on top of the grills surface and having meats such as ham, ducklings or large cuts of meat. This method allows the meat to be cooked by its own broth which would drip to the pan while cooking and would turn into vapor during the process. For added flavor, you can add spices, wine, lemon juice and other flavorings to enhance it.

The second method of roasting on the grill is called spit-roasting. This method is best used for poultry, meat and lamb and is known to give these meats taste more like themselves. The process is similar to pan roasting, except you have the item rotate over the heat having it constantly soaked in its own juices. The juices gathered here can later be collected and can be used as gravy.

    Smoking

When grilling outdoors, fishes, meats, turkeys, whole chicken and game tastes really great if smoked. Of all methods of grilling, smoking is known to have the most distinct and pleasant flavor and it is quite easy to do. The process of smoking involves the use of firewood, this if which would give that smoky flavor to the items to be grilled. To prepare it, have the wood soaked overnight in water.

After doing so, place them in aluminum foil and prick a few holes on the side. Place holes facing upwards along briquettes and you are ready to get smoking.

It is so popular in fact; if you go to restaurants with grilled food any cuts of meat will never be out of the menu. The catch is it is quite fun and easy to prepare. Grilling meat is just like grilling any other item on the grill. The fun part is that it is not only limited to direct grilling but you can also do a lot of other methods such as smoking, roasting and searing it. Some lovely cuts of fish such as salmon, sea bass, swordfish and tuna are really nice on the grill considering you know just the right methods of cooking each of them. Grilling fish also gives them a different but pleasant flavor as compared to other ways of preparing them.

While fish is pleasant, there is more to just that when it comes to seafood on the grill. Some other lovely items you can toss on top of the grill are shells, squid, octopus and shrimps. These are really nice on the grill especially if they are cooked just right. If they are, you can taste the juices from deep inside them. Having seafood grilled the right way makes them taste more like themselves.

    Poultry

Along with the others, poultry would also make up for some of the best items on the grill and could even be considered by some as a classic, although it is still not as popular as meat. With the many things you can do with poultry on the grill, almost all approaches of grilling would make chicken, turkey or duck taste much better. Take note that one of the best ways to serve poultry is by having them grilled.

Poultry however unlike other items on the grill, it has to be cooked evenly and cannot be served medium-well, medium-rare and all those. To see if it is cooked right, you can do the prick test. This involves having one side pricked with a sharp object which would cause juices to come right out. Through these, you would be able to tell if the poultry is cooked right.

    Vegetables

To add a spin to the grill, you can also serve some nice peppers, asparagus and zucchini along with other items on the grill. These would not only give you more health benefits but they are also very nice when grilled and marinated with some oils, vinegar and spices. Grilling them also gives them a different taste, much different than how they are traditionally served.

The best part is that they go with almost every other item you can grill. With a good mix of vegetables and meats on the grill, outdoor grilling sessions are sure to be much better.

Plan your party, food and favors with the least possible cost

With the economy down, most people are foregoing with organizing parties and just celebrate by treating their guests out for dinner or lunch. But some people are still dreaming of having their own party despite the rising costs of organizing one. You can actually organize one, complete with the drinks and the party favors at minimal costs just as long as you know how to budget.

Here are some tips that can help you.

    1. Plan early

If you really want to save up for your party then better plan ahead and take advantage of upcoming sales and promos. Sale seasons to watch out for are the Thanksgiving Sale and the Fourth of July Sale which are great ways to buy materials for your party. Of course, you cannot buy the food in advance but all others can be bought early like the decoration, the party favors and even the drinks and some hors d oeuvres. If it is a childrens party that you are planning, try to take advantage of the after Halloween sale where they will be selling candies and chocolates as well as costumes and decors at half the price or sometimes even a quarter of the price.

    2. Recycle and Reuse

When planning your party make sure that you know the things that you need to buy and the things that you can get from your home. As much as you can, try to make use of plates and glasses that you already have in your home. The plates and cups dont have to match. They just need to be clean. You can put the designs of the pieces one after the other. With a pattern, it will not be as evident that they are not matching china.

When planning for party favors for childrens parties, you can recycle plastic cups, paper plates and other items that you can transform into masks, telescopes and other great fun toys that children during the party can play with. There are many things that you can reuse and recycle. You just need to make an effort to look. Besides by doing this you will not only be saving money, you will also be saving the environment.

    3. Call in invites and RSVP

Another great way to cut costs is to forego with the invitations and just call them in to inform them about the event. Make sure also that you emphasize the need for an RSVP so that you can have a final head count days before the event. This will help you a lot in planning and in deciding on the food and the drinks.

If you just want an intimate dinner and do not have the budget for people that you dont really know, tell your guests from the onset that they are the only ones invited and that they cannot bring anybody with them. By telling them about it when you invite them, you will minimize confusion and problems of excess people on the day of your party.
